Detect IP address
Internet Protocol Address is a unique string of numbers that identifies a computer or a server on a network.
- An IP address can be private, for use on a LAN/WLAN, or public, for use on the Internet or other a WAN.
- An IP address can be determined statically (assigned to a computer by a system administrator) or dynamically (assigned by another device on the network on demand).
- The IP address is usually expressed as four decimal numbers, each ranging from 0 to 255, separated by periods. For example, 127.0.0.1.
You can use an IP address to send a note to a specific computer. To receive notes you need to provide a sender with your computer IP address.
Detect personal public IP address provided by your ISP (for sending notes over the Internet)

 Note:You may have:
 personal static and public IP address at the same time if you have direct connection and your IP address in ISP's network and in outside world is the same
personal static IP address but IP address you see on your computer is different from your public IP address.
personal dynamic IP address - if you connect through the dial-up/ADSL.
non-personal static/dynamic IP address. If your ISP has the same public IP address for a range of users (e.g. for your office, building, etc.), you don't have an easy way to receive notes over the Internet. We recommend you to contact your ISP to try to resolve the problem.

If you don't know your IP address, you can:
consult your ISP
use different IP tests.
use a command-line utility ipconfig

Note: If you have a dynamic IP address, you should determine your IP address each time after you connect to the Internet

Your IP address in a Local Area Network (for sending notes over a LAN/WLAN)
For Windows Vista Classic Menu:
1. Click the 'Start' button and select Settings -> Network connections.
2. If you have more than one network card, select the necessary network card, right-click on it and select 'Properties'.
3. In the 'Local Area Connection Properties' window open the 'Networking' tab and under 'This connection uses the following items', select the Internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
4. Press the 'Properties...' button.
5. In the Internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties window open the 'General' tab.
6. You can find your IP address in the IP address field. If the 'Obtain an IP address automatically' option is selected, you need to ask your network administrator about your IP address.
If you have Vista-style Start menu
1. Click the 'Start' button and select Control Panel.
2. Select 'Classic View'
3. Select 'Network and Sharing Center'.
4. Select 'Manage Network Connections'.
5. If you have more than one network card, select the necessary network card, right-click on it and select 'Properties'.
6. In the 'Local Area Connection Properties' window open the 'Nerworking' tab and under 'This connection uses the following items', select the Internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
7. Press the 'Properties...' button.
8. In the Internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties window open the 'General' tab.
9. You can find your IP address in the IP address field. If the 'Obtain an IP address automatically' option is selected, you need to ask your network administrator about your IP address.
For Windows XP Classic Menu:
1. Right-click on the 'My Network places' icon and select 'Properties'
or
click the 'Start' button and select Settings -> Network connections.
2. If you have more than one network card, select the necessary network card, right-click on it and select 'Properties'.
3. Open the 'General' tab and under 'This connection uses the following items', select the Internet protocol (TCP/IP).
4. Press the 'Properties...' button.
5. You can find your IP address in the IP address field. If the 'Obtain an IP address automatically' option is on, you need to ask your network administrator about your IP address.
If you have 'XP-style' Start menu
1. Click the 'Start' button and select Control Panel.
2. Select 'Switch to Classic View'
3. Select 'Network connections'.
4. If you have more than one network card, select the necessary network card, right-click on it and select 'Properties'.
5. Open the 'General' tab and under 'This connection uses the following items', select the Internet protocol (TCP/IP).
6. Press the 'Properties...' button.
7. You can find your IP address in the IP address field. If the 'Obtain an IP address automatically' option is on, you need to ask your network administrator about your IP address.
